Sirius sniffles, “I can’t live without you. And back in December, I thought… I thought I had to.” He takes a shaky breath, “I can’t get over that, you're my baby brother.”
Regulus rolls his eyes, “By a year.”
Sirius smiles sadly, but a smile nonetheless, “Just promise me something.”
“What?”
“Let me go first.”
“Go?” Regulus questions.
Sirius nods, “Die.” He says bluntly, “Let me die first, Reg. Please let me die first.”
Regulus wants to protest, he wants to fight. He can’t live in a world without his big brother, he’s been here his entire life. He can’t picture one without him. But he looks so sad underneath the light of a million stars. Like an oil painting created in the depths of grief. So he whispers, “Okay, Sirius you can go first.”
